Peace and Q's

Dance parties are a big thing in Vancouver. After around 3 am there can be plenty of obnoxious noises rumbling out of the alleys where all the kids are dressed in an amalgamation of 80's fads and fantasy. It's always felt so wrong to me. Even just the thought of listening to such horrible electronica...
But,
apparently a lifetime of being bat-shit crazy about the 8-bit mastery found in nintendo game scores primed me for a spot in the epileptic world of dance music. Or maybe it was all those nights in elementary spent down at the roller rink jamming to dance mix 95.
Or maybe it's 'battered ear' syndrome. Like when my friend always listened to cock rock and glam metal in his car - after a while I got a sense of what was more tolerable. Then it became funny. Next thing I knew I was learning how to play the Scorpions.
It was very similar with electronic music. Vancouver's full of it.
But a lot of it's very bad.

Unlike northern B.C., where things are more like back home. Hard rock, baseball caps, tapout shirts, and drinking. The landscape is way cooler though, and driving up there wasn't even bad. We split an 8 hour drive between two of us and it went over with ease. We got into Quesnel with enough time to check out our venue, find our hotel, nap, and get some eats at the nicest venue we performed this tour.

The Occidental

Here's the boys on stage with one of our servers. She was a real sport, she even let us use her room as a green room. (She rented out a rad little space right behind the stage. Sure gave her an easy commute to work)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Cariboo re-upped our beer supply before we went out!

So I figured I'd enjoy a drink in our hotel that allows smoking. It was just too novel, you can't really smoke anywhere at all anymore, so it seemed like a call from the past having a room with an ashtray.

Neil and Kata Sita got smoking later in the night too. In between sets they brought some fuel and flames outside for a good bit of fire play. Unlike in the Okanagan, we could actually get away with it here!

Then for whatever reason, we didn't get crazy. We had only an hour drive the next day, and could've gotten into some fun trouble. But this turn was different. With Kata Sita instead of Melody Mangler the dynamic of the crew changed drastically. Matt and Neil didn't tease her very much, which should be good, but it was just weird. It felt a lot more like work.
Meh.
We were taken care of, and I slept great.

...sure was ready for a dance party though..
