Dirty Dancing

Okay.. Williams Lake. Can't say that I saw very much of it. But I did get to see the weekend life at it's finest.
At the local strip bar, Diamonds and Dust! (If that name doesn't just shout "strippers" then I don't know what does).
The first thing that I have to say about this place is that the women running the show took good care of us. They came through with a guarantee, got us a hotel across the street, and gave us $100 tab for food...
..at Denny's.
First thing Matt ordered was a plate of deep fried dough balls. Horribly sugary shit. The man doesn't keep that physique by fortune alone, folks! But I digress..

The bar was kinda funny, as half of the room was set up for the strip bar and it's seating, then off to the back there was an area with the looks of an empty games room. So we found a bunch of chairs in the boiler room/storage area (which was to become our green room) and set up our own makeshift stage.

To the left of the stage was a door to a little room, but we were denied using it as it served as the private show room. (Which did get used. So there's that.) So we used the door to the right of the stage, which had more space. And so posh! Look how ecstatic Kata Sita is!

Up until now we had the show running a total of 2 1/2 hours, divided in two sets. But this was a weirder gig. We had an hour show to do, as we were basically cutting into to ripper time. Which, almost seemed like too much.

The girl hosting the show got herself pretty charged up for this one.
And by charged up, I mean smashed.
For the first half of the show her and her friend were louder and more animated than any of our performers. I found it kinda funny, as it added to the real strange vibe. But as I watched the host and her friend get excited and unruly, I noticed a glint of real fear in Neil's eyes that I've only seen maybe twice in the time I've been with this show.
Not bad though. It did mean that the more life threatening stunts got cut out. Still, Neil and Martina did a double sword swallow, something that they had been working on quite a bit and I was looking forward to seeing. It kinda went unrecognized though, as there was just so much madness going on around the madness!

All said and done, people enjoyed themselves. Even if they weren't entirely sure what they'd just witnessed.
But that's okay, cause with barely a break in-between the dancing girls went back on and life in Williams Lake returned to normal.

What I did find kinda strange was how calm everybody else was. A strip bar usually brings out the douche in everyone, but not so much here. We talked with the woman running the bar after and she spelled it out pretty clearly: It's the only strip bar in town, so no one wants to get banned for actin' a fool!
